Home --> Biology --> Online Labs Online Labs Measuring *Due 1-27-2006 Laboratory exercises serve important functions in a
first-year biology class, including familiarization with the practical tools
of biology, developing manual skills (such as using a microscope), problem
solving, socialization, and learning the style and process of formal
scientific investigation and communication. Except for the manual
skills, online biology at NWACC integrates the lab experience that on-campus
students receive in a conventional lab into the lessons and the term
project. Simulations go a long way to provide the equivalent to what
students in conventional labs, and in some ways provide better access (you
can always "do it again" any time). We believe this experience
provides excellent preparation for more advanced classes in biology. You will complete each of the labs listed above by
following the directions listed on each page. They are to be completed in the
order in which they are listed. You will be emailing your instructor one Word
document for each lab segment (i.e., "Measuring" is one segment),
with charts and quiz results pasted into the document according to the
directions provided for each lab. Please use the document header to show your
name as well as which lab you are completing. Mark each section in your
document clearly so that your instructor will know which exercises you are
completing. Be sure to keep a copy of all lab exercises (including those you
have sent to your instructor) to include in the lab notebook that you will
submit at the end of the semester. Biology Home | Personality Inventory | Logging on to WebCT | Syllabus | Online Labs |
