The Scientific Method: Due 2-08-2006

For these labs, you will need to use one (1) Word document with your name in the file name as well as listed on each page of the document. Add each lab for the Scientific Method as you complete it and email the completed file to your instructor via Web CT. Results from any online quizzes need to be copied and pasted into the Word document. You will also need to print and save all of your documents, including what you send to your instructor, from each lab for inclusion in your lab notebook.

Using the Scientific Method

Supplies Needed:

  • Rapid rise yeast

  • Table sugar

  • Thermometer

  • Ruler

  • Bleach

  • Three similar, clear glasses

  • Ziplock Baggies

Read all of the material in this section and complete the following:

The Yeast Experiment: Complete the experiment and record your answers to the questions and experiment results as directed. Copy and paste the chart to include it in your lab book as well as in the Word document that you are preparing for your instructor for the Scientific Method.

Yeast Experiment II: Complete this experiment and record your results. How did this experiment demonstrate the interaction of microorganisms and the carbon cycle? Copy and paste the results and answer the word document for the scientific method.

The Frog: Copy, paste, and answer all of the questions into your Word document and be sure to print it for your lab notebook.

Pseudoscience: Answer all eight of the questions, labeling them Electric Belt 1, Electric Belt 2, Laundry Balls 1, and so on for each question. Include your answers in your Word document as well as in your lab notebook.
