Description:                                       Orientation to the broad spectrum of careers available in agricultural, food, and life sciences.

 

Goals:                                      To introduce students to the variety of career opportunities in agricultural, food and life science.  The student will develop an understanding of the interrelated disciplines of biological and physical and social science.

 

COMPETENCIES:

Upon completion of this course, the students will be able to:

 

A.      Articulate personal and career goals.

B.      Describe the career opportunities available in agricultural, food and life sciences.

C.      Describe the educational requirements of various career majors.

D.      Demonstrate their understanding of degree programs by completing a personal investigation of a chosen career.

E.      Use the Internet as a resource for career information.

F.      Communicate about career options, job placements, and job opportunities.

 

Prerequisite:                                        College level reading or consent of instructor.

 

 

Attendance:                                          Attendance will directly affect your grade.  There will be no makeup for non-attendance.

Bad Weather Policy:                            Cancellation of classes will be released to local TV and radio.  Day classes will be announced by 6:00 AM and evening classes by 3:00 PM.  Student weather phone line: 619-4377
